Things are Gonna Change Around Here

A lot has changed again since that last post I made. I have a job. I have some spare income. I have a drink in hand. All is going well, and I am moving forward and very quickly - which is a very nice change to be honest. With moving forward, there are a few things that are gonna change with this blog.

From blog to store

I've had ideas of making Australian queer designs made by a queer person (ie. me) for a while and now that I have the capacity to do this, I thought why not. This is going to be the biggest change for this website. I've been spending the last week finalising the administrative aspects of starting my own business spending two hours after my full time job and spending this Saturday with those little tasks that need doing for a business to succeed (next up is a basic Profit/Loss spreadsheet so I know what my monthly spend will be).

The first line of items that I will release will be called "Homo is where the heart is” - a series of posters centred around places that I and many other queers and members of the LGBT+ community will have memories of - especially that we can't visit these places currently due to lockdowns. Places like Taylor Square, the Imperial Hotel, and The Laird. There might be a bit of space later on to ask people from other states and territories if they have an influential place that they might want memorialised in poster form.

The blogs will not stop, but they will be a bit more spread out. If I feel like writing on something that is currently happening in the news and is related to queer spaces, the not-for-profit arena or business development and speaks to me, I'll write something short about it. Also, the blog will be a source of upcoming designs and other things I find interesting.

Other plans: Vocal and Other Social Media

I want to make my graphic designs personal and authentic to myself. Thus, each item that I put up will have a story about why I chose it and why the design is important to me. The three places I mentioned above are filled with fond memories (and maybe things I'd rather forget happened) and I think would be a very interesting read. I have chosen the site Vocal to share these thoughts - but you ask why not here? There's nothing wrong with expanding reach, and I would like to keep these blogs more technical and intertexual based, while the Vocal will be more about being creative writing on previous experiences and has a broader reach than this blog currently has.

I have discontinued specific Intertextual Mind social media except for my Facebook page. If my business is about sharing my own experiences in a graphic form, then I think my own social media profiles should be used. Another benefit of this is that is, as a one man show currently, I don't have the capacity to deal with my own social media and a business social media as separate entities. I've also started a Tiktok (Currently is full of my crochet project, and will most likely stay that way for a little bit)

That's about it for the update. My plan is to have my first product up on the website on the 4th of August, 2021 and release something new every fortnight. I’ll be putting up teasers and other info up on Facebook and Instagram, and you will find all my social links here, and like EVERYTHING (or not, I’m not the boss of you).
